Popsilos adds two new murals on farm silos to its touristic circuit 

The Drouin Farm in Casselman will welcome urban art artist Dodo Ose who will create a mural themed “The sowing” and the Robert and Louise Lalande farm in Alfred will welcome urban art artist Ankh One who will create a mural themed “Vulnerability”. Although the circuit itself remains closed to the general public for the moment, production sites began operations following provincial and federal government issued public health guidelines on June 9, 2020. It’s expected the production period will extend until June 30, 2020. Popsilos has chosen to work with the international urban art agency ASHOP who acted as coproducer during Popsilos’ inaugural production round in 2017. Popsilos is proud to contribute to the continuation of the arts community during this trying time.

The closeness with the Drouin family and the cultural exchange are for me rather grand as is the fact that I am painting before endless fields and the river. Not only am I painting a canvas (silo), but I am fully living the moment of creation and I can feel a very different energy.”

Popsilos 2020: The circuit opens on July 3rd with two new murals

The Popsilos circuit is a great way to escape the routine and set your imagination free. We're happy to bring to you two fresh new murals on the circuit. This past June, The Drouin Farm at 1230, route 400 in Casselman, welcomed muralist Dodo Ose who painted an artwork themed "The Sowing" and the Robert and Louise Lalande Farm at 1163, Caledonia Springs Road in Alfred, welcomed muralist Ankh One who painted an artwork themed "Vulnerability".  Here's a recap on visiting the circuit during the COVID-19 pandemic and a few tips and tricks before you head out. Enjoy! 

During the COVID-19 pandemic, visitors must respect physical distancing rules published by the Public Health Agency of Canada (2 metres or 6 feet). It is recommended to have an alcohol-based sanitizing gel with which to disinfect hands before leaving your vehicule and at the end of your visit. Farms that have commercial businesses in addition to a silo have established COVID-19 guidelines that must be respected should visitors take part in any of that business' activities.

1. Map and information is all online on the popsilos.ca website. Your smart phone will be handy! 
2. Make sure the farmers’ properties are open to the public for the time at which you plan to visit. Every site has its own hours of operations. If not, you can view the silo from the roadside. 
3. Respect the signs or barriers set-up by the farmers on their properties where entrance is prohibited. Buildings, equipment, tools or any other objects are off limit. You are responsible for your own safety and security on site.
4. Be respectful of the environment.
5. Learn about the artwork online at popsilos.ca.
6. Wear comfortable shoes suitable to farm grounds!
7. You may or may not be greeted on site. All depends on the farmers’ workday! If they’re free, they’ll love to chat!
8. If you plan on visiting certain local artisans or producers identified on the Popsilos map, also check in on the website provided to ensure they are open to visitors at the time you plan to visit.
